After a series of three trial matches aimed at determining the team's ability level the Bushrangers were placed in the VAFA's third tier competition, known as Women's Development Division Two. Unfortunately they struggled all season, winning just twice in 13 outings and ending up with the wooden spoon. As a result of this they were assigned to the VAFA's bottom tier, Division Three, for a 2018 season which saw them perform rather better than the previous season, ultimately finishing fifth of eight clubs.
